Since we have gotten back from our mini-vacation at the end of the summer our team has gone through much transition.  We were back for a couple weeks and then headed out to New Orleans for a random mission trip or sorts.  The Lord actually planned out our trip as we made some calls to friends and acquaintances, the details actually came together two days before we packed up the 15 passenger van.  I will write about that trip on a separate blog.

After getting back from N.O. we felt a leading to all attend the CCDA (Christian Community Development Association) Conference in St. Louis for an extended weekend.  We really didn’t have the money for all of us attend: it cost about $200/person,  hotel, food, and gas.  So, what else do we do when we are in need?  Pray.  Two days before the conference we prayed for the Lord’s provision.   We saw Him provide in creative ways in the following week as we left for St. Louis.  Kristy had called the volunteer coordinator of CCDA and found out that we could all volunteer (3 of our staff actually were behind our Two Rivers table, recruiting – or so we thought).  The day before we left a call was made to a Catholic Retreat Center in St. Louis – Mercy Center.  They graciously hosted us for three days, for FREE.  Talk about a blessing, this place was amazing!  About 12 hours before we left our newly wed friends who happened to be visiting with us decided to give us their tithe for the past couple months.  This money covered the cost of gas and food for our whole trip.  Praise God for His creative provision!  I will have to tell you more about this trip as well, we had no idea what surprises the Lord had around the corner.  Our “recruiting” turned into a prayer ministry.

So, back to my original thought.  Transition.  Yes, this seems to be the theme with our crew every six months or so.  For now, we are in major transition as our AmeriCorps time commitment is coming to an end mid November.  Our ministry is taking on a different approach as we will have more freedom with how we spend our time in the community as well as the prayer room.  As far as our financial income, we are living on faith.  That’s right.  The very thing I thought I would never do while living in Cairo…raise support.  What seemed to be a terrifying act, is now seeming joyful.  I am excited to see who will come alongside of our team as we journey through this new season.  I am thankful for the ways the Lord has already been faithful in providing our needs and look forward to the ways they will be provided for in the future.

Please be in prayer for us as we seek Him for our next steps.

Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

James 1:16-17
